The setup at the plate is wide and he gains minimal ground with the front foot as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The path is loose and uphill. There is strength in the swing and he shows potential for power down the road. He is aggressive with his approach to hitting. In the outfield, he is reliable and gets off the ball well. The bat takes a flat path through the hitting zone, showing the ability to produce a lot of hard line drives. In the infield, Samuels showed good feet, soft hands and a quick arm. He gets into a good position and works through the ball well. In the outfield, Samuels is athletic and showed off a strong arm. He also had a vertical of 64 cm. On the mound, Samuels was really impressive. The young right-hander has a quick arm and showed off a tight breaking pitch. The delivery is simple. He worked primarily out of the stretch, using minimal movement. He gets to a good position at the top, separates well, creating a higher ¾ arm swing. As he works down the mound he’s in line with home plate and finishes over the front side. The fastball showed late arm side run and sat (79-80 MPH).
