Besides having the best name in college baseball (my apologies Itchy Burts and Jared Pinetar), Town is a gritty ballplayer with strong bat-to-ball skills. He’s short to contact with good bat lag. He also has present strength and good extension through the ball for gap power. He runs above average, throws near average and patrols the outfield with certainty. At 5-foot-11, 185 pounds he is not a high round prospect and doesn’t profile to be more than a 4th/5th outfielder at the ML level, but Town combines tools and skills into high level performance. Currently batting .442 with two home runs, ten RBI and three stolen bases out of the leadoff spot in the Patriot lineup, he smashed his way through the Frisco Classic at 7-for-14 with three walks and opened some eyes in the scouting industry.
6/20/17 Currently ranked No. 27 in Louisiana’s 2018 rankings. Strong 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, strong build, strength in wrists and forearms. Left-handed hitter that hits from tall, athletic setup, leg lift, smooth load, strong lower half, and quality balance. Line-drive, gap-to-gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level to slightly uphill path that creates quality extension, and backspin on the baseball. Shows quality bat speed and strength at contact, posting an exit velocity of 83 mph. Quality defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and clean exchanges. Long arm action into over-the-top release with accuracy on throws, producing a positional velocity of 82 mph. Athletic runner with powerful strides, clocked at 6.82-seconds in the 60-yard dash.
2/20/17 Athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, strong build. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, and leg lift. Simple, direct path with strength at contact and bat speed. Finished the day 1 for 2 with a loud triple to left-center that plated three runs, one hit by pitch and added another loud out to straight away center.
