It would've been easy for the former Future Gamer to get frustrated last Saturday against Benton, as he wasn't given much to hit on the afternoon, but he delivered in a big way for the Chiefs when they needed it most. The Southeastern Louisiana recruit was intentionally walked in his first at-bat with a runner on 2nd and 2 outs, and was hit by a pitch in his second at-bat, before oppping up to the second baseman in his third at-bat. Laird then came to the plate in the bottom of the 8th with no one on and 1 out, to deliver a firm two-strike single back up the middle, and he would come around to score the winning run on Titus Williams game-winning double.

Hit: Starts in a wider and athletic stance with hands held at shoulder height. Used a toe-tap load and stride, as well as a simple pick up and put down load and stride. Arm: Low release, short and quick arm action. 74 mph IF velocity.
Defense: Liked his pre-pitch routine. Athletic mover, caught everything clean and out front with soft hands. Made a nice bounder play, using two hands, to end his defensive round. Definitely has a chance to stick at SS in the future.
