Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
2/19/17 The 5-foot-10, 162-pound prospect more than likely projects as a middle infielder at the next level. His feel in the infield is advanced amongst his peers. He is light on his feet and makes it look easy. He is constantly creating angles towards the ball and maintaining momentum through his throws. His velocity topped at 80 mph across the diamond. Offensively, he is a switch hitter that shows a similar swing from both sides. In this BP setting, I couldn’t tell a more favorable side. He is confident on either side of the plate showing a balance stance with a small leg kick to initiate his lower half. The ball jumped off his bat and he showed the ability to go the other way while also displaying some pull power as well. His 60 came in at a 7.26, but he was running on a hard, flat surface. On the mound, he uses a slight inward turn followed by a big leg kick. His fastball sat 77-79 mph with occasional run. His breaking ball is an effective out pitch. It showed late 12/6 break at 65-66 mph. Also throws a 73-75 mph changeup with straight movement.
60 Time: 7.26 Position Velocity: 81 Exit Velocity: 75
7/26/16 5-foot-10, 165-pound average build. On the mound he had smooth rhythm to a delivery he was able to repeat. Uses a high-¾ slot with average armspeed. Delivery doesn’t require much effort. His fastball was anywhere from 75-77 mph and was complimented by one of the best, if not the best breaking ball we saw all day. Spin was hard for hitters to pick up before showing late, sharp action. Has swing and miss potential. A switch hitter that maintains his rhythm throughout his load and showed above average batspeed from the right side. Will see immediate increase in pop and his 79 mph exit velocity with more efficient use of his lower half. Similar mechanically from the left side with better use out of his lower half. In the infield he has quickness to his feet with adequate glove skills. Through across the infield with 77 mph arm strength. Ran a 7.66 60-yard dash.
