6/15/16 - 60 Time: 6.78, Position Velocity: OF-88, Exit Velocity: 84
5-foot-10, 165-pound LHH is one of the top uncommitted outfielders in the 2017 class. Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, keeps the barrel in the zone a long time which allows him to produce line drive contact to all fields, flashed his speed in the position player workout and again in game play beating out an infield single, went 2-for-3 in his game after going 4-for-4 in last years Top Prospect Games, hits every time we see him, top of the order hitter at the next level. Good athleticism defensively and works through the ball well, showed plenty of arm strength with a loose and athletic arm and accurate throws.
6/16/15 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound left-handed hitter, flashed his speed with 4.15 home to first time, hits from a wide base with no stride, hands are set low, flat bat path stays in the zone, line drive type hitter who sprays the ball to all fields, went 4-for-4 in game play that included an infield single. Showed average hands defensively, accurate throws across the infield with 80 mph velocity, can work through the ball better, may project better as an outfielder at the next level, very interesting 2017 prospect with tools. On the mound, long arm action, high-3/4 slot, minimal effort in delivery, arm shows some quickness, fastball sat 79-80 mph touching 81, occasional arm-side run and sink on fastball, 64-65 mph curveball shows good depth and 11/5 action when he gets out front, hit first batter of the inning and then retired the side in order with a strikeout swinging on the fastball.
7/15/14 - 5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect shows good lateral movement and promising arm strength across the infield for a young prospect at 80 mph on accurate throws. At the plate the left handed hitter hits from a wide base with no stride, starts with hands high and drops in load, good balance throughout swing, line drive hitter with a gap to gap approach and level swing path, showed off his speed by turning in one of the top 60 times of the event at 6.78, 75 mph exit velocity off the tee, athletic young prospect to keep an eye on. On the mound, uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, shows a repeatable and deliberate delivery with minimal effort, fastball sat 78-80 touching 81 with occasional arm-side run, curveball shows tight spin with sharp 11/5 action at 68-70 mph and is above average for age, showed a changeup that was mainly straight at 73-74 mph, showed the ability to consistently throw strikes with all three pitches, established himself as a 2017pitcher to keep an eye on.
3/10/20: Compact and strong at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, Brown is a plus-plus runner who covers a lot of ground in center field. At the plate the left-handed hitter sets up in the back of the box with a slightly open and spread setup. He’s a rotational hitter with a short stride and very little weight transfer or separation. He hits off his backside with an opposite field approach and has the strength to drive the left center field gap. He ran a 4.11 on a 4-3 groundout and a 4.14 on a comebacker to the pitcher. Brown is also a base stealer with good instincts, having collected nine in 11 attempts already this season. With speed and defense as his main tools, he may receive some late round interest on Day Two, but without much over-the-fence pop Brown is more likely to be considered after the 10th round this June.
