7/23/14 - 6-foot, 165-pound prospect uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, some effort in delivery, consistently pounds the strike zone, showed an increase in velocity from previous event as fastball sat 80-82 mph, good command of 65-66 mph curveball with 11/5 action and sharper 68-70 mph slider, continues to show a plus changeup at 69-72 mph with very good sink and fade, should be watched for additional velocity gains, competes and knows how to pitch.
7/15/14 - 6-foot, 165-pound prospect uses long arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, has good rhythm and temp in delivery, throws a lot of strikes, fastball sat 78-79 mph with some arm-side run, showed a 69-71 mph slider that has some late bite, as he did at the Top Prospect Games in June he showed a plus changeup at 68-71 mph with good sink and fade, good pitchability from Kelsey and he should be watched closely for velocity gains in the near future.
6/17/14 - 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect uses long arm action working through a high ¾ arm slot, fastball was mainly straight at 78-79 mph, showed a 67-70 mph curveball that he tended to get around but it was solid when he stayed on top. Kelsey’s changeup was the best of the two day event. In fact, it rivals the best we have seen at any event. He throws it with good arm action and it shows significant sink and fade at 70-71 mph, struck out five consecutive hitters in his second inning of work and threw the changeup at the bottom of the zone at will, good pitchablity, allowed two hits and struck out six of the 10 batters he faced.
