Joshua Schmidt: C/OF, (2023) Beechwood, KY. 5-foot-9, 155-pound. Solid at the plate, Schmidt clocked an exit velocity of 87 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed is above average, exhibits a simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels during his round. Up the middle approach. Behind the plate, throw downs to second were maxed at 65 mph. Capable in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 71 mph; showed consistent feet, a natural exchange, and soft hands. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 65 mph during throw downs; had consistent pop times of 2.09-2.16. Showed a high ¾ slot with a short arm action.

5-foot-6, 125 pound right handed pitching prospect with a smaller build throws out of a ¾ arm slot on the mound. Provides even tempo throughout his delivery with nice intent leading to a strong finish. Fastball was kept low at the knees consistently for strikes at 60-64 mph. Curveball showed developing spin at 55-58 mph. Changeup was kept low in the zone at 59-62 mph. Offensively he swings it from the right side with an uphill bat path. Made nice contact throughout the round showing average power. Developing further mechanically with being on time and consistent synchrony of upper and lower body actions. Recorded a 70 mph exit velocity off the tee. At third base he plays low, using shorter footwork on plays inside his funnel. Actions appear more athletic on the move. Does a nice job of playing under control throughout fielding sequence. Hands are soft and ball skills are developing. Behind the dish he gets out of his mid crouch with adequate footwork. Actions are smooth and exchange was clean. Both feet and exchange have room to get quicker. Tossed it with accuracy to second base.
