5-foot-11, 165-pound athletic frame. In the box, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 89 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth compact load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is above average, displays a loose level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 74 mph; has consistent hands, a quick fluid exchange, and consistent fluid feet. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Using a compact arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the bag from a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.47.
Simply put, Vaughn is a gamer. His athleticism plays at SS and behind the plate, and he shows the ability to drive the baseball to both gaps with his left-handed bat. He’s played both positions for Team Kentucky at the PBR Junior Future Games, but ultimately his athleticism probably lands him at SS.
