10/21/17 - Max FB: 88, FB: 84-87, CH: 70-73, SL: 73-75
6/15/16 - 60 Time: 8.94, Position Velocity: IF-78, Exit Velocity: 78
6-foot-3, 235-pound LHH hits from an open stance and squares up with a short stride, has a loose swing with fluid rhythm, generates better bat speed in BP than exit velocity would indicate, flashes occasional pop, went 1-for-3 in game play with a single. Defensively, shows good hands and decent athleticism for size, solid arm strength with accurate throws. Sims has good potential, especially as a hitter. He will need to work some on his body and foot speed moving forward to maximize his potential.
Max FB: 80, FB: 77-80, CB: 60-64
As a pitcher, uses long and loose arm action through a high-3/4 slot with normal effort, good rhythm and tempo in delivery, fastball is generally straight but he uses leverage well to throw downhill, not afraid to pitch inside and does so effectively, has feel for the curveball with gradual 11/5 action, allowed two hits (one infield) and hit a batter in his one inning of work, would expect to see velocity gains from the large-framed right-hander.
9/16/19:Listed at 6-foot-5, 270 pounds the mountain of a man showed a solid delivery with clean arm action. His fastball sat 90-91 mph, while he spun a tight slider at 83 mph with a spin rate in the 2300-2400s.
