6-foot-2, 200-pound RHP with strong frame works exclusively from the stretch, uses long arm action and works through a high-3/4 slot with regular effort in delivery, velocity was the same as he showed at winter event, pounds the strike zone and comes at hitters, showed a changeup as his only secondary pitch in his one inning of work, allowed two hits, walked none, and recorded three fly ball outs, has some potential to add velocity moving forward.
6-foot-2, 200-pound RHH hits from an even/wide base, short stride, good balance through contact, shows occasional lift at contact, projectable power especially to the pull side. Average hands and defensive corner actions, has solid arm strength across the infield from a high ¾ release, quick exchange and release gets rid of the ball efficiently. Size and current skill set make Burden one to follow in the 2018 class.
As a pitcher, uses long arm action and works through a high-3/4 slot with regular effort, up tempo delivery, occasionally lands open, does a good job locating all pitches at the bottom of the strike zone, fastball is straight, curveball shows sharp 11/5 action and is solid, changeup shows significant late tumbling action, slider is similar to curveball action. Burden has potential to pick up additional velocity.
