2022 MLB Draft League: Big, physical right-hander that racked up insane whiff rates during his stint with the Draft League, including a 61% Whiff% on his slider. Good velocity on riding fastball (T95) and elite spin rates on all pitches.

Bortka is a thin and lean 6-foot-5 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 4.75 home to first and has an 89 mph exit velo. Botka has quick twitch actions on the mound and in the infield.  At the plate, open stance, in line stride, quick bat speed, stays the middle of the middle of the cage, aggressive swing.  On the infield, 84 mph positional velo, loose three quarters release, quick arm action, moves well to the ball, plays through the ball with fluid transfer, somewhat accurate throws.  On the mound, Bortka is a tall and lean hurler, loose arm action, quick arm speed, over the top arm slot, slight tuck at balance point, in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball at 84-86 mph, showed curveball and slider, curveball has 12-to-5 action, mostly at 74 mph, late action, slider has more 11-to-5 bite, late and hard action, some showing depth and ability to be a good pitch down the road.  Overall, highly projectable with athleticism.
