2/21/16 - Gardner is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class.  He ran a 4.20 home to first and has an 85 mph exit velo. At the plate, athletic set up, short stride and short bat path to contact, simple and repeatable swing, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velo, loose over the top action, quick feet and quick exchange, throws have carry. On the mound showed an athletic, up-tempo delivery. Natural three-quarters arm slot, quick arm. Finishes square. Fastball 77-82 mph, arm-side run. Breaking ball with 12/6 to 11/7 shape, sharp action, 66-68 mph. Change-up 73-74 mph. Sprayed his pitches at times but as he develops strength and body control should improve command and add velocity – the arm has quickness to it.

1/19/15 - Gardner is a class of 2017 right-handed pitcher and outfielder that attends Blue Valley West HS in Stillwell, KS. Thin, athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame. On the mound works under control to a tall balance point, aggressive move to the plate, finishes square, repeats. Three-quarters slot, arm works. Athletic delivery with rhythm that grades out well. Fastball with arm side run, 75-76 mph. Breaking ball with 12/6 shape, 53-55 mph.
