Comments
9/15/14 - Covington breezed through five innings against the Kansas City Bullets on Saturday yielding just two hits and one walk while striking out eight. He has an athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame and a simple, repeatable delivery. He features command of a sinking fastball up to 81 mph and advanced feel for a 67-68 mph slurve type breaking ball that he was able to throw in the strike zone in all counts to keep the Bullets off balance throughout the game. Advanced command of a breaking ball is a rare deal for a high school pitcher and Covington has it.
8/6/14 - Covington is an athletic-framed 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Deliberate delivery, tall balance point, lowers during stride, strides inline, athletic finish, maintains body control throughout. Simple, repeatable delivery. Short, easy arm action, low three-quarters slot, gets out front on all pitches. Fastball runs into right-handers late, 77-81 mph. Feel for 11/5 breaking ball, 66-68 mph. Change-up with arm-side run, 70-71 mph. Showed command of all three pitches. Faced six batters, one hit, one strikeout. 11/15 strikes.
