10/20/18 - Kaplan is a 5-foot-9, 195-pound right-handed hitting catching prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 8.15 second 60 yard dash, 4.70 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. During hitting evaluations, Kaplan showed hard line drive contact to the middle and pull side of the field, simple load with rhythm to his hands, showed extension through the baseball, minimal stride, level bat path, repeatable swing. Defensively, behind the plate, Kaplan showed quick actions, fluid footwork, clean transfers, over the top arm slot, pop times between 2.07 and 2.26 seconds, positional velocity of 69 mph, mostly accurate throws.

12/17/17 - Kaplan is a 5-foot-8 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 5.01 home to first and has a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide stance, weight shift to load in back side, minimal stride and hand movement, level path, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, over the top release, 63 mph positional velocity, fluid footwork with fluid transfer, staggered set up to receive.
