7/19/16 - Bechtel is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class.  He ran a 7.09 60 and a 4.51 home-to-first.  He has an 83 mph exit velo. At the plate, hands worked inside the ball, middle of the field line drives, open stance, minimal load, short path to contact, stays on ball, solid consistent contact during batting practice.  Behind the plate, pop times between 1.90 and 1.95-seconds, 80 mph positional velo, quick catch and throw, hands and feet in sync, over the top release, durable frame, accurate throws with carry. On the mound, Bechtel has an over the top release, loose arm action, throws on a downhill plane and with regular effort, repeats release point, fastball at 83-86 mph, touching 87 mph, 11-to-5 breaking ball, late action, change up consistently down in zone at 74-76 mph, some arm side release.
