5-foot-9, 145-pound slender frame; SS/2B. In the box, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 70 mph. Began in a open stance, had a quick load and used a toe tap to initiate his swing. Showed a straight-to-the-ball swing plane, high finish. While in the infield, showed ability to throw up to 80 mph across the field; had average hands, a quick exchange and smooth footwork. Movements laterally were athletic while he fields the ball out front. Used a quick arm action with a ¾ slot. He clocked a time of 7.11 in the 60-yard dash.
2/23/2019: Tyler Walkup, SS/2B, Lawrence North HS, 2021, 5 foot 9, 141 pounds, ran a 7.67, threw 78 mph across the infield, and recorded an exit velo of 79 mph. Has active feet defensively with a good release and short infield arm action. Uses simple leg lift to load at the plate, and is balanced throughout his swing and barrels balls in BP consistently. Strength is needed and should come the next few years to take his offensive game to another level.
