2/22/14: 6-foot-1, 165 pound southpaw possesses an athletic frame. On the mound throws from a high ¾ slot with a quick, loose arm. He sat 84-86 with some run with his fastball using a drop-and-drive delivery. His breaking ball shows a slurvy action that sits 59-62 and also throws a 77-80 mph cutter that's a solid out pitch. The changeup sits 69-71 but was erratic in the zone.
4/25/18 - Athletic lefty with a quick arm. Balanced delivery with compact arm action to a high three-quarter slot. Fastball ranged from 87-90 mph which is the lower end of the velocity I had heard about previous to this game. It had average life and command. Manipulated the break and varied the shape depending upon the situation on his 76-80 mph slurve. Flashed average, but was mostly a fringe quality pitch on the day. It induced only a few swing/missed and the DBU hitters saw it well. The changeup was his best off speed pitch, flashing above average to plus on a couple occasions. It had fade and sink with good arm speed at 80-83 mph. Threw all of them against right-handed hitters, including four in a row at one point for a strikeout. Held runners well with an above average pickoff move. Tough to run against as he also varied his times to the plate with an occasional slide step. Competed and pitched to contact getting nine fly outs, four groundouts and a total of two strikeouts in five and one-third innings, 114 pitches. If reports of greater fastball velocity with more sink than what was seen today are accurate, Polley could be selected somewhere in the middle of Day 2 of the draft. He was good today, however he was not that type of prospect on this look. (Seifert)
