6/12/18: Athletic 2019 MIF prospect out of Northview. Hits from left side from an athletic slightly crouched setup. Used toe tap trigger with some bat wrap. Did show choppiness to swing as he toe tapped there was slight pause in rhythm. Showed line drive ability with good bat speed. In the field displayed good actions with soft hands and a quick exchange. Arm strength is average from a low ¾ slot across the diamond. Ran a 6.97 60.
4/17/18 Spring Scout Blog: Uncommitted '19 MIF. Athletic player with some twitch to his game. Moves fairly well up the middle with good actions. Throws from low 3/4 to almost side arm across the diamond, arm is average. Hits from left side, slightly open set up, toe tap trigger. Shows average bat speed, level bat path through zone with high finish. Got down the line at 4.38 on turn and 4.18 on a hard ground out.
2/17/18: 6-foot-1, 170 pound left-handed hitting shortstop has an open setup with a balanced swing. Toe taps into short stride. Line drive approach. Lead off type hitter. Average bat speed, able to use all fields. High exit velocity of 80mph. Up the middle, Shaw has above average hands with a clean, quick transfer. Long arm action, 3/4 slot. Makes the routine play. Moves well. Throws peaked at 75mph across.
2017 Spring Scout Blog: Athletic sophomore shortstop was good defensively and swung it from the left side of the plate. Looks to have stretched and filled out since the last event, the 6'0", 160 pound shortstop showed good range and defensive skills up the middle. Arm was average across the infield with low 3/4 quarter arm swing and release, long at times. Feet work in good direction to field and throw, with feet slightly too wide at time to bend and funnel baseball in to body. Hands are soft and active, and work well through the baseball. Took good lateral routes to ground balls to field and throw. Advanced defender that has more arm strength to gain. Bat was loose with slight twitch, got long at times. Left handed, narrow, open stance to start with the hands lifted up close to the helmet. The hands work slightly away from the front side to load and separate, but can work further and into stronger position with more separation. Barrel gets loaded to a good angle but body has tendency to drift and travel weight out on to front side, causing to be late on velo fastball. Possess average bat speed with more strength to gain at the plate as well. Athletic prospect in the 2019 class.
