2/21/15: 6-foot-2, 210 pound 1B possesses average hands in the field. Moves well around the bag, clean exchange. 81 mph across the field with carry. Offensively the LHH starts in a narrow setup. Smooth load, short stride. Average use of the lower half, good balance. Possesses a quick bat with some whip. Slightly uphill path, gets to extension. Gap to gap type hitter with power potential. Fluid rhythm. Recorded a high exit velo of 91 mph.
PITCHING: 6-foot-2, 210 pound southpaw showcased average arm speed from a long, high ¾ arm delivery. Good line to the plate, athletic finish. Fastball was 78-80, touching 82 and thrown for a strike. 12/6 breaking ball with late action at 63-64, thrown for a strike. Changeup shows sink at 68-72, tendency to slow arm down when throwing the change.
6/17/14 - 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect with athletic frame, uses long arm action working through a high ¾ arm a slot, fastball sat 78-81 mph touching 83 once with some cutting action, showed the ability to consistently throw his curveball for strikes at 62-66 mph with some depth and 1/7 action, showed at 62-64 mph changeup, pounds the strike zone with his three-pitch mix, allowed no hits and struck out three of the five batters he faced, definite follow in the 2016 class. As a position player, Archer hits from an open stance and squares his front side with a short stride. He generates good bat speed as evidenced by his 88 mph tee exit velocity and ran 4.66 down the first base line. He shows gap to gap power with loose hands that create some barrel whip through the zone. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles and lined out hard to center field in another at bat. He showcased an 82 mph arm from the outfield with online carry from an over the top arm slot and showed the ability to cover ground in game play with a nice catch in foul territory down the right field line.
