Tall strong bodied athlete. Has strength through his shoulders. His delivery starts from the far right side of the rubber. Short side step as he saddles the rubber and mound. Almost in a preset like from the stretch. Short hand pump with ball and glove as he lifts his leg kick. Has a H ¾-arm slot that shows good free range of motion to shoulder. Displays a short stride and gets down the mound with easy action and tempo. Fastball is firm and locates well. CB has short tilt and accurate. Has a circle change grip that produces late fade and cut in zone. Repeated well and strength to his athletic body will allow him to improve, recover week to week and project out in future. Good upside. FB 83-85, CB 67-70, CH 67-70.
Jake Thometz: LHP/OF, (2022) Munster, IN. 6-foot-1, 175-pound lean frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 86 mph. During setup, has a quick load then a short stride. A level swing plane. has soft hands. In the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 82 mph. Had a long arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.21. On the mound, drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed in line shoulders. Shows Upright finish. Changeup (68-69 mph).Threw his fastball 80-81 mph and topped out at 81 mph; showed running action. His tight curveball (67-68) shows glove side control.

FB was straight and sat 76-77, CB had 1/7 tilt and sat 64-65, CH was a good pitch with sink and sat 65-67. Still a young arm and shows some potential on the mound with a pitcher’s frame that can fill out. At the plate, Jake uses a small weight shift to load with an early hand load. Swing works downhill and he had an exit velo of 82 mph.
