Power / Speed Score

2/16/2019: Eli Macdonald, SS/RHP, Homestead HS, 2020, 6 foot 2, 160 pounds, uses early hand load and small leg lift to load. Stays back to hit and recorded an exit velo of 91 mph and a 60 time of 6.97. Has slow footwork and a long arm action defensively and threw 81 mph across the diamond. On the mound, Eli throws from a high ¾ slot and a medium arm action. Fastball was straight and sat 80-81, CH had some fade life and sat 72-73, CB has short 11/5 action and sat 69-70, and SL was similar to the CB but slower at 66-70.
7/11/18 MacDonald is a tall, lengthy pitching prospect. He has a tendency to short arm his delivery due to some jerkiness after reaching his balance point. His fastball showed good arm side run at 78-80 mph. His best offering was a 66-69 mph changeup that showed arm side and downward movement. Curveball showed signs of potential with 10/4 break to it at 67-69 mph. He also throws a 68 mph slider. Works down in the zone and will be a good arm to follow as he smooths out his mechanics. A right-handed hitter that starts in a wider stance. Leg kick load into a balanced launch. Barrel accelerates from a vertical position, allowing for early bat speed and whip through the zone. Really fast bat with above average strength to hands. Ball looked different off his bat. Loose/whippy swing with barrel authority. Some of the louder pop we saw at the event. Defensively takes direct routes with a quick first step off the bat. Rangy defender that can cover ground to both sides while maintaining ball skills. Good athlete in general with a MIF skillset. 60-yard dash: 6.97 Exit Velocity: 84
