Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: 6-foot, 170-pound prospect. Hit: Easy movements that flow into a slightly backside launch. Path is uphill with a nice combination of strength/speed through the zone. Swings with intent and worked through a pull side approach in BP. Power: Line drive guy that flashed gap abilities. 84.7 was top exit velocity in BP. Offensive Projection: TBD. More strength to come. Field: Moves with fluid actions, playing under control in the outfield. Soft hands with ball skills on par for class. Also worked out in the infield where he had a very solid showing. Plays with fluid actions and well timed feet work. Throw: Loose arm with more strength to come. Defensive Projection: Multiple Positions.
6/11/19
6-foot-3, 170-pound SS / OF. At the plate, starts with his elbows in and his weight shifted on his back foot; slowly moves his hands back during load. Has a slight leg kick, an upward swing plane and a high, two-handed finish. Gets off his back foot well; barreled up most balls; 80 mph exit velocity. Shows good OF actions by moving to the ball cleanly; stays behind fly balls to generate power in throws; 3/4 arm slot; 86 mph position velocity. At SS, shows clean, consistent glove work when in good position; moves well laterally with quick feet; makes accurate throws; 86 mph position velocity.
2/16/2019: Corey Jeanor, SS/3B, Franklin Central HS, 2020, 6 foot 2, 170 pounds, hits from the right side in a slightly open crouch. Uses small leg lift to load and a good move forward to separate. Barrel is a little flat at foot strike. Barreled balls consistently and had an exit velo of 84 mph. At SS, Corey had good actions with effort and threw 86 mph across the diamond. As he continues to get stronger those actions will take less effort. I really like his projectable athleticism when his body fills out as he is long and lean and ran a 6.96.
6/12/18: 2020 MIF prospect hits from right side. Leg lift trigger with long stride to contact point. Bat path is long and uphill creating leverage from smaller frame in swing. Bat is quick through the zone. Showed good rhythm in swing and stayed balanced throughout. Showed lind drive approach to the gaps. In the field showed good footwork with a quick exchange but did tend to field the ball deep and on heels at times. Arms strength is slightly above average across the diamond at 85.
2/24/18: 6-foot-1, 155 pound shortstop has above average bat speed in the box. High back elbow, quick hand speed. Gap to gap power. Long path, extension post-contact. Average balance. High exit velocity of 78. Defensively, he has a strong arm across. Throws topped 83mph with some accuracy. Average glove, flat footwork. Plays through the ball. Ran a 6.92 60 yard dash.
2/26/17: The 6-foot-1, 145 pound shortstop features a short stride and high back elbow during load. Creates a flat bat path with partial usage of lower half. Average bat speed. Top exit velocity of 75. Defensively, plays with flat footwork and clean exchange. Long arm action, makes accurate throws topping at 73.
