2/17/18: 6-foot-4, 175 pound pitcher has a drop and drive delivery with long arm swing into 3/4 slot. Simple load, easy effort down mound. Deliberate pace, choppy at times. Lands soft, open. Lacks separation. Fastball sat 80-81, up to 82 with some arm side run. Breaking ball has loopy, gradual break in an 11/5 shape. Change-up fades to arm side with a slowed arm action.
7/24/17: Big, 6-foot-4, 175 pound junior RHH works with a slightly open stance, using a big leg lift and stride to hit. Front foot lifts open and stays open to land. Hands start at the center of the body and get pushed back to shoulder to launch. Looked to rush hands back at times. Back foot points slightly open, not allowing the lower half to fully work through the swing. More room to load into the back side, big stride forward limits weight transfer. Line drive swing with some lift, drove a couple baseballs pull side when on time. Finishes balanced. Corner outfielder, long arm swing to throw, low ¾ arm slot. Crow hop gets high, has more to generate in the lower half to gain on throws and play through the baseball. More foot speed to the baseball. On the mound, the delivery is controlled down the mound, simple and easy effort. High ¾ arm slot with long arm swing down. Front foot has small heel strike at landing, head and shoulders have tendency to pull towards first base dugout at release. Much more in the lower half to generate down the mound and finish through the front side. Fastball sat 76-77, topping out at 80, thrown mostly glove side. Curveball was 64-65, backed up and missed arm side with release point. Changeup was 68-71 with small fade arm side.
