4/5/18 Spring Scout Blog: Uncommitted, strong framed, 6-foot-2 Junior right-hander pitches predominantly from the stretch. Works from a short, high 3/4 arm action with average arm speed. Lower half has some stiffness, falls off towards 1B side. Struggled with command early hitting three Fishers batters. Finished the game throwing 98 pitches, 63 for a strike. Faced 30 batters total, 18 were first pitch strikes. Threw a 2-pitch mix in his 6 2/3 innings of work. Fastball sat 83-84, touching 85 twice in the first inning; after settled in at 81-83. The go to offspeed was his changeup which flashed good sink and some run sitting anywhere from 72-78. Allowed 4 hits, 2 Runs (1 earned), while striking out 9 and walking 2. Appears to have more in the tank, and once the weather starts to heat up expect the fastball velocity to spike
12/3/16: Strong, physical build at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. Showcased some arm strength behind the dish at 75mph from a short arm action. Feet are narrow behind the plate, needs to quicken up his actions. Has the tools and ability to improve as a receiver with more experience. Offensively, hits from a slightly open stance. Loads back, front arm bar. Good balance in the swing. Showcased above average bat speed for his age with a level path. Rhythm is a little early with some stiffness. Consistently made hard contact during BP. High exit velocity of 85. Also worked out in the OF where showed a long, high ¾ arm action up to 81. On the mound pitches from a short, high ¾ arm action with above average arm speed. Good balance point in a drop and drive delivery. Shows some rhythm. Fastball was thrown for a strike with occasional run at 80-82. Breaking ball had late action from a 10/4 shape at 71-74. Changeup is thrown with near fastball arm speed, showing sink action at 73-77.
