At the plate, starts with his feet open and his knees slightly bent; uses rhythm in his body to create timing and fluidity; has an upward swing plane and a one-handed finished; 84 mph exit velocity. Shows athleticism in OF; moves to the ball well; stays behind fly balls to generate arm strength; throws from 3/4 arm slot; 79 mph position velocity. 5/1/2019 Spring Scout Blog: Somewhat new to the scene, Rinehold can impress offensively with a strong lower half, good bat speed, and flashy athleticism in the field. The sophomore shortstop stands 5-foot-9 and about 170 pounds with a good frame and growth potential. Offensively starts open with a short stride that includes an unnecessary toe tap that causes a delayed swing start at times. Path is smooth with a level plane and good extension. At short, has some range. Feet can get choppy when moving laterally but has the athleticism to be more fluid. Hands are good with good arm strength and accuracy from a 3/4 slot. Will see gains with experience in the field.
2/23/2019: Brodie Rinehold, SS/OF, Franklin HS, 2021, 5 foot 9, 166 pounds, ran a 7.68, had an exit velo of 84 mph and threw 76 mph across the infield in this workout. Feet move fine in the infield and has an average release with short arm action. Brodie profiles more at 2B at this point in his career. At the plate Brodie uses a toe tap load and separates with good timing. Barrel is a little flat at launch position and produces line drive approach.
