6/12/18: Right handed hitter with wide base crouched setup in box. Short stride to the baseball, good rhythm in swing. Back and drop type of load with hands loading well. Bat path is short and compact and slightly uphill. Showed ability to pull side. In the field showed good range with easy actions, exchange was clean and quick, arm strength is average across the diamond. On the mound pitches from high ¾ arm slot, slow tempo to plate, arm stroke is long and tended to drag at times. FB sat 82-84, also flashed 11/5 CB at 72-73. CH also showed potential with some fade action in the bottom half at 77-78.
2/17/18: 5-foot-10, 155 pound infielder hits from a slight crouch with a line drive approach. Contact hitter, able to use all fields. Hands load back, minimal stride. Above average bat speed. Long path to contact. High exit velocity of 85. Defensively, features above average hands with heavy footwork. Throws had accuracy and some carry at 82 across the infield. On the mound, Reed has a drop and drive delivery with a high 3/4 slot. Long stride, backside tends to collapse. Above average arm speed. Fastball sat 81-82, touching 83. Breaking ball has loopy 11/5 shape with gradual break. Change-up has some arm side fade. Strike thrower, high effort.
7/24/17: 60 Time: 7.55, Position Velocity: INF-81, Exit Velocity: 82. 5-foot-10, 155 pound junior showed a quiet and balanced approach from the right side of the plate. Uses a simple foot lift to separate and load, hands stay quiet and neutral off the shoulder. Short, quick hands to the baseball. Showed some pull side pop with average bat speed. Gets good extension after contact, with lift to the pull side. Back knee stays under the head. Wiry, loose arm across the diamond. Feet are choppy, glove and hands work through the baseball. OT arm action with some carry. Gets flat footed and on heels at time. Needs more foot speed and range for MIF. Athletic on the mound, with a smooth delivery and short arm circle back. High OT release, head pulls to first base side. Fastball sat 80-83, with command to both sides. Flat at times. Breaking ball was 70-72, staying up in the zone with small break. Changeup stayed firm and straight, down in the zone at 76-77.
