Luce

2/2/14: Luce is a 5-foot-11 175 pound lanky righty. Luce uses a quick arm action to top out at 82 with a heavy fastball.  The delivery has some corkiness in it and he predominantly throws from the stretch.  All pitches show late life. The breaking ball on occasion backs up on him and tops out at 68. Luce also showed a change up with arm side run and decent arm speed that topped out at 73. 

2/18/13: 5-foot-11, 170 pound sophomore shows a long, loose arm action from the outfield.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with good accuracy and carry at 80 mph.  Shows above average hands in the field and is fluid with his feet, but needs to improve foot speed.  Needs to field the ball more out front and work on setting up his throws.  At the plate uses a balanced setup with a short stride.  Has some bat speed with an uphill swing plane.  Barrels up most balls, producing line drives.  On the mound he throws from a high ¾ arm slot displaying a quick arm, short arm action.  His fastball sat 76-78 mph showing some sink.  The 11/5 breaking ball was thrown with near fastball arm speed, and had late action and thrown for a strike.  At the present time like him more as a pitcher.
