Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
'25 LHP Braden Shaw (Zionsville) provided an upside look in his 'pen at the Indy Preseason ID. Uber-projectable at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds, Shaw showed an up-tick in velocity compared to looks last fall, now working 82-84 mph on a fastball with above average carry (16"+ IVB). His best pitch of the day was his slurvey, 72-74 mph breaking ball, spinning at over 2500 RPM with more sweep than depth. The projectable southpaw also showed the ability to kill spin (835 avg) on a diving, 77-78 mph changeup. Shaw's fastball command is fringy at the moment, but his ability to land his breaking ball should allow game success as he learns to command the fastball. The arm works with a looser sling to a 3/4 release point and there is significant velocity projections left within his frame.
