Medium frame body, strong legs, strong forearms and a durable strong shoulder with flexibility. He starts his swing approach with an erect slightly open front side. His hands are near his back shoulder, displays a short load up and trigger to his swing. Has good balance and proper head position. His approach creates good bat speed through the ball. Barrel has loud contact as he gets full extension in swing path. Appears to be a singles gap-to-gap hitter. Hits line drives. Posted a 7.24 60-yard dash. On defense as a catcher, produced a 1.89-2.0 pop times. Has narrow based set up as he receives. Hands are soft and he shifts and blocks well. Has easy actions and movements behind the plate. Has a traditional set up as well as hybrid leg down on ground style. Framed pitches well.
7/23/19
Western High School, Class of 2022; 5-foot-11, 165-pound C/OF. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded a max exit velocity of 76 mph. Starts in a balanced, slightly open stance; uses a high elbow to help showcase his quick hands and line drive swing plane. While catching, his pop time was 2.08; his highest recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 70 mph. Starts in a narrow setup. Showed quick feet and a consistent transfer; his throws were consistently accurate and on the bag. He recorded a 60 time of 7.50 at the event.
9/30/18: 2022 C with smaller frame at 5’10 145 lbs shows short compact swing at the plate. Sprayed line drives to all fields. Simple set up and load stride timing trigger. Could use more separation pre swing to allow him to generate more bat speed. Found the barrel consistently. Behind the dish, development will come with age. Travels with the baseball when throwing. Long exchange and sloppy foot work with room to grow for young prospect. Pop times ranged from 2.47-2.68
9/10/17: 60 Time: 8.00, Position Velocity: INF-65, OF-68, C-64, Exit Velocity: 63. 5-foot-8, 120 pound right handed hitting catcher works with a short, balanced stroke at the plate, hitting line drives to all fields. Uses a simple leg lift to swing, one piece action with no separation or stride, short hand path to the baseball. Consistently barrelled up the baseball in BP rounds, staying mostly back side hitting over the second baseman. Head stays down through contact with athletic lower half, more strength, length and load to add to swing. Behind the plate, travels with the baseball to throw, sits upright to catch and transfer. Long exchange, with uphill shoulders and arm action to throw. More arm strength and carry to be developed, young prospect. Pop times were 2.47-2.68 short of the bag.
