2/23/2019: A.J. Swingle, LHP/OF, Mount Vernon HS, 2021, 5 foot 11, 185 pounds, uses a long arm action out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight at times with down angle and sat 80-82. CB sat 70-73 with short tight down 1/7 shape, backs up at times when he doesn’t get good extension. CH sat 74-76 with some arm side fade. At the plate A.J. has bat speed and uses lower half well in swing. Sometimes hands get too deep in launch position and works downhill. A.J. had an exit velo of 91 mph and ran a 7.79 60 yard dash.
9/30/18: LHP with athletic and lanky frame at 5’11 175 lbs. Throws exclusively from the stretch. Simple delivery with loose arm that stays long. Stays in line and gets down the mound exceptionally well. FB has some life and sat 79-80 topping at 81. Mixed in a curveball with loose spin and tended to back up often. Curveball sat 62-63. Showed ability to find the zone with both pitches.
4/26/18: Lanky limbed young lefty. Pitches strictly from the stretch, simple delivery to the plate stays in line and finishes downhill. Long arm action with some whip. FB sat 77-79 T80 and held over the course of his outing. FB showed some life often. Also mixed in a CB that showed depth and late action at 66-67. Commanded the zone with both pitches. '21 lefty to follow and velocity should climb as he matures. Uncommitted
9/10/17: 5-foot-10, 170 pound freshman lefty owns long and lanky frame, loose and long arm action and swing. High ¾ arm action down the mound, front side is weak with stiff lower half, raw actions as young prospect. More strength to fill out frame. Shoulders and release work uphill, loose grip on breaking ball. Fastball was 75-76, controlled arm side of plate, more arm side run to be developed with more arm speed. Breaking ball was spun up out of hand, loose spin and backed up out of zone at times, threw a couple 2/7 downward tumblers at 62-63. Chance to be plus pitch. Changeup was thrown 64-67, cutting action. Raw, athletic actions.
