Kutsulis earned a scholarship to Notre Dame as a left-handed pitcher, but his two-way abilities led the Celtics to the Catholic Blue title. On the mound, he finished with a 7-2 record and a 2.18 ERA with 47 Ks. Offensively, he tallied 5 homers, 30 RBI and a .402 BA.
On the Celtics’ loaded Class 4A state runner-up squad, Kutsulis didn’t log many innings as a junior. But that didn’t prevent him from becoming one of the more coveted left-handers in the state. Kutsulis, who posted a 3-0 record as a junior, comes from a lower-3/4 arm slot, and his 84-87 mph fastball has late arm-side action. Look for Kutsulis to become the Celtics’ prominent starter this spring.
