Displaying a lanky 6-foot-4, 170-pound frame, Plessa was impressive on the mound today for the Illinois Gators. The righty threw the full seven innings giving up no runs and only allowed two hits with nine strikeouts. Mechanically, Plessa is tall on the mound with a slight knee bend and a long stride toward the right-handed batter’s box. He fully extends his arm in his windup while keeping all his weight on his back leg. He throws with a 3/4 arm slot and keeps his mechanics the same for his fastball and slider making it difficult for the batter to pick up. Plessa’s fastball was thrown 78-80 mph, pounding it arm and glove side. His curveball was sharp with a lot of drop to it and had hitter’s off balance all day.
