9.5.15 - third baseman and right-handed pitcher. Will be starting the second game of the day for Team Southern Illinois at 6 pm tonight. Thaggard is a physical, bigger-body right-handed hitter. Went 2-for-2 on the day with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Starts from an open, athletic stance with some pre-pitch rhythm. Average solid build, right-handed pitcher. Repeatable delivery that showed the ability to stay in the strikezone. ¾ arm slot, average arm speed. Fastball showed heavy sink, 81-83 mph, touched 84 mph, held velocity for most of the game, including in the stretch. Slider has 10/4 action, 74-76 mph, showed good feel. Changeup has good arm side action, ranged 73-77 mph. Thaggard went the distance keeping hitters off balance by changing speeds and location within the strikezone. High pitchability guy.
7.7.15 - Thick, strong 6-foot-1, 210-pound, right-handed pitcher throws four pitches. Somewhat deceptive delivery. Short, quick arm action, ¾ arm slot, landing slightly closed. Heavy fastball with sink that lived at the bottom of the zone. Fastball ranged between 80-84 mph. Good feel for two breaking balls. Curveball had 11/5 shape, good arm speed and ranged between 67-72 mph. Slider had 10/4 shape, 73-74 mph. Changeup showed some fade at 73-74 mph.
