He has an easy, on-line delivery producing 85-86 mph sinking fastballs and has good extension out front. His off speed is a work-in-progress, but his 75-77 mph changeup looks to have the most potential at this point.

Southern Illinois-Edwardsville commit. Matheny, started on the mound on Friday afternoon and did it all in a complete-game victory. Matheny ran his fastball up to 89 mph early in the outing and still had 88 in the tank in the seventh. He utilized a three-pitch mix throughout with both flashing above-average potential. Matheny did damage with the bat in the win as well. The left-handed hitter hit two opposite-field doubles, one of which drove in three runs.
