Uncommitted. Lean, wiry 5-foot-9, 155-pound athlete with twitch. Hit leadoff and started at shortstop for the Rams, finished 1-for-3 with a walk, stolen base, and three runs scored. Simple at the plate with some rhythm pre-pitch, slight hand turn at load, short to the baseball. Walked in his first at-bat, went first to third on a ground ball to second base in the next at-bat and eventually scored in the same inning. Bounced a triple off the right field wall for his lone hit of the game, missed a home run by a few feet. Nearly beat out a ground ball to the shortstop later on, 4.19 down the line. A true spark plug atop a lineup that’s capable of impacting the game in multiple ways offensively. An asset with the glove, floats effortlessly around the diamond with smooth, nimble feet that work well to both sides and soft glovework to pair. First play of the game was a run through right at him, worked around the baseball and fired a clean, quick throw across the diamond. Ranged roughly 35 feet to his gloveside later in the game, transferred quickly to nab a would-be baserunner for a 6-3 putout. Capable of sticking at shortstop moving forward, would be a true impact defender at second base, too. Provides positive value in multiple areas on the diamond, still on the market.
Uncommitted. Wiry 5-foot-9, 145-pound frame, lean athlete. Hit leadoff and started at second base for the Rams. Upright setup with some knee bend, handsy load, short stride, moxy at the plate. Short and simple swing, works on top of the baseball and doesn’t try to do too much. Quick out the box, above-average runner, 4.20 down the line in his first at-bat. Also tripled late in the game, plating a pair in the Rams’ comeback effort. Looked to take the extra base out of the box. Advanced defensive actions on the infield. Nimble feet with bounce, covers ground and comfortable ranging laterally to both sides, lower half works around the baseball. Soft hands at gather, clean funnels and quick to release. Capable of sticking up the middle, athleticism would play well in center field, too. A high motor, high energy type of player that’s still uncommitted.
