On Friday, Raney showed well at both the plate and on the mound. Offensively, the right-handed hitter stays in a loose, athletic position to hit with a simple trigger and a slightly uphill bat path. The rising sophomore should drive the ball more as he adds more strength to his 6-foot-4, 175-pound frame. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher showed raw arm talent with whippy high 3/4 action. Raney's fastball sat in the 78-80 mph range, with the Wheaton Warrenville South student-athlete also flashing a breaking ball in the mid-60s.
