Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 22 in the state as a left-handed pitcher. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounds southpaw got the start against Maine South, going four innings while allowing four runs on four hits and struck out five. Ban struck out three of four batters faced in the first inning. Works from the stretch only, level shoulders, quick leg lift, lands squared to home with a slight off fall to third. Short, clean arm action, high 3/4 slot. Used a three pitch mix; fastball, curveball and a changeup. The fastball played straight, clean out of the hand, worked up in the zone, held 83-86 mph. Ban’s main secondary pitch was the curveball, 1/7 shape, confident to throw in any count or situation, held 68-70 mph. A changeup with occasional arm-side run held 74-75 mph.
