2022 MLB Draft League: Power is Plastiak's calling card, and he shows it from both sides of the plate, producing easy 105 mph+/400 ft.+ blasts with relative easy. With that power comes a lot of swing and miss, and he doesn't offer much defensive value at either corner infield spot.

9/16/19

A Wichita State transfer, Plastiak looks the part of power-hitting corner infielder. Standing 6-foot-4, 215 pounds he oozes power potential and showed the ability to get to it during the Warriors first game of the day turning an 84 mph middle-in fastball around the knees into a 384' no-doubt home run to right field with an exit velocity of 99.4 mph. With a long frame and arms there is some length to his left-handed swing, but with a quiet setup, good balance and present bat speed, Plastiak is one to dream on. Defensively he showed solid actions, dependable hands and an average arm across the diamond. A 28th round pick by the Padres in 2018, he will likely receive Day Two consideration in 2020.

6/6/18 - Drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th Round.

3.28.18 - Wichita State commit. Currently ranked No. 19 in the Illinois’ 2018 class. 6-foot-2, 190-pound, switch-hitting, shortstop, strong, athletic, long build. Continues to emerge as one of the top hitters in the state. Only hit left-handed in this game and finished 2-for-3 with two triples. His one out was a fly ball to the warning track in left-center field. Tripled down the right-field line in his first at-bat and into right-center field in his third at-bat. 4.50 and 4.54 on the turn. Confident and comfortable in the box. Quiet load, minimal stride and stays balanced throughout. Loose hands, easy bat speed with physicality in swing. Ball comes off his bat hard, jumps at times. Seems to recognize spin and has a good understanding of the strike zone. Defensively, actions continue to improve on the infield. Sure handed, clean release, can throw from multiple angles. Showed a quick, clean release and strong arm when needed.

7.27.17 - Wichita State commit. 6-foot-3, 190-pound switch-hitting shortstop with a lanky, athletic frame. Defensively showed range laterally going up the middle on a ground ball. Showed the ability to play on the run with good body control. Accurate arm across the infield with carry.

7.11.17 - Wichita State recruit, currently ranked No. 49 in Illinois’ 2018 class. 6-foot-2, 190-pound switch-hitting infielder, lean, athletic frame. Ran a 6.94 laser-timed 60. Offensively, shows swing looseness from both sides of the plate, inconsistent swing path, gets little lower-half separation, flashes pull-side pop occasionally. Registered 93 mph exit velocity from the right side, 90 from the left. Defensively, shows above-average arm strength, 85 mph across the infield. In game, went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.

2.19.17 - Wichita State commit. 6-foot-2, 190-pound switch-hitting infielder, lean projectable frame. Offensively showed loose easy hands that work on a fluid uphill path to lift the baseball. Setup is balanced, short stride, on time. Flashed occasional pop, mostly gap to gap contact, 93 mph exit velocity from both sides of the plate. 7.06 runner in the 60. Big arm with carry across the diamond, 87 mph across, high ¾ slot, longer release. Third base projection, funnels the baseball with above average hands.

8.3.16 - Verbally committed to Wichita State.

1.17.16 - 6-foot-1, 170-pound switch hitting middle infielder, long slender frame, squared shoulders. Defensively plays with long levers, hands are average, shows some body control. Arm occasionally winds up to release, showed arm strength, 80 mph across the diamond. Showed similarities on both sides of the plate, open stance athletic tall setup, short stride. Showed bat speed from both sides, 84 mph from the left side, 86 mph from the right side. Loose hands, slightly better round from the left side, spray hitter. 7.58 runner in the 60.
