2.15.15 - 6-foot-1, 170-pound lanky and athletic right-handed hitting shortstop impresses with advanced infield actions, soft hands fielding the baseball, quick/fluid footwork, quick/clean exchanges, athletically plays through the baseball. Threw 80 mph across the diamond from loose, high ¾ arm slot, average carry, accurate arm. Hits from an open setup, hands load back smoothly, short stride, dives slightly, short, slightly uphill bat path, gets extension, barrel whips through the zone, 81 mph exit velocity. Ran a 6.98 60. Coney is committed to Purdue and is one of the top defensive middle infielders in the 2016 class.

1.19.14 - 6-foot, 160-pound athletic two-way player with advanced foot speed. Ran a 6.94 60. Foot speed translates well on defense as he plays through the ball with athletic feet, soft hands, and quick, clean exchanges. Arm works loose, from a high ¾ slot with accuracy and carry at 78 mph. Offensively, hits from a balanced stance, smooth loading action, short stride, and excellent balance through contact. Swing is free and loose with solid extension. Exit velocity off the tee was 71 mph off a tee. On the mound his delivery has smooth rhythm, clean lines, and regular effort. Filled up the strike zone with his straight fastball, sitting 77-79 mph. Had feel for his curveball, throwing it with 11/5 shape at 61-64 mph. Had advanced feel for his changeup, throwing it 65-68 mph with arm side run and fading action.

6.12.13 - Coney is a 6-foot, 150-pound right handed hitting and throwing middle-infielder and pitcher. Displayed good athleticism throughout the showcase.  On the mound he worked with good direction accelerating towards his target and with a balanced finish.  Fastball sat 68-72 mph topping out at 75 mph; curve between 60-64 mph with gradual 10/4 action; and changeup which was his best pitch at 63-64 mph with sink.  Line-drive hitter at the plate.  Showed consistency with an advanced approach and athleticism throughout the swing.  Has bat speed and gets good extension through the ball, finishing his swing with excellent balance.  Recorded an exit velocity of 74 mph, ran a 7.35 60, and threw 73 mph across the infield.

2/18/13 - Lanky frame, 6-foot, 150-pound two way player. On the mound, works from a high ¾ arm slot with a long loose arm action. Fastball has slight run, 74-75, touching 76 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape, 62-66 mph. Changeup has sinking action, decelerates arm action, 63-68 mph. Hits from a balanced stance, slight dive to the baseball. Lower half collapses some, 66 mph exit velocity from the tee.
