Repeated a quick, yet somewhat mechanical delivery with clean arm action and full arm circle to a high three-quarter slot. Threw against a firm front side, producing above average arm speed. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound righty filled up the strike zone with an 88-90 mph fastball and below average 73-75 mph curve. He also dropped his release point to mix in an 80 mph flat slider. His fastball showed low spin (1,775 rpm) and averaged 14.9 inches of induced vertical break. Uncommitted entering the ProCase, Schmitt emerged from the event with much newfound interest and recently committed to Illinois.
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Projectable, long and lean build with plenty of room for added strength.
Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, hides the baseball, works on-line and lands front toe slightly closed at times.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, quick arm action from an over-the-top slot.
FB: T86, 85-86 mph. Works straight, plays heavy when able to locate at the bottom of the zone with tilt.
CB: 70-73 mph. 11/5 shape, flashed sharp bite.
SL: 72-75 mph. 10/4 shape, small wrinkle.
CH: 78-79 mph. Straight action, thrown for strikes.
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed pitcher, high-waisted, lean frame with athletic actions, young look, projects. Quick tempo, active feet, tall, sturdy balance, leg kicks out in-line to home, toe strikes even, smooth rhythm. Arm plays short and loose throughout, hides ball, over the top slot, some effort. Fastball played straight with tilt and occasional cut, sat 77-83 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, flashed depth, early break, 70-73 mph. Slider, similar shape to curve, tighter spin, 72-73 mph. Changeup had arm speed, cut and fade, 75-77 mph.
