Morton didn't allow a run or hit and struck out one with one walk; throwing four first pitch strikes to seven batters faced. Working from the stretch only with some effort, closes his shoulders off to home at foot strike, lands squared with a falling off finish. A short arm action, high ¾ slot, displayed a fastball, changeup and a slider. Fastball with arm-side run with late sink at times, sat 83-85 mph. Changeup with arm-side run thrown mid to upper 70s. Morton threw a heavy dosage of sliders, with 10/4 horizontal movement, thrown low and glove side, sat 72-75 mph.
Unsigned Senior. Strong, sturdy 6-foot-2, 204-pound frame. Entered the game in the sixth inning and tossed two scoreless innings, securing Mundelein’s win and a no-hitter. Featured a sinking fastball at 82-84 mph, touching 85 mph, that was thrown down in the zone for strikes. Confidence to land a low-70s breaking ball for strikes throughout his outing, particularly to get ahead in counts.
