4.25.17 - Left-handed hitting third baseman with a strong, solid athletic frame, muscular legs. Offensively, satys in the middle of the field to hit. Even setup, slight load and separation and keeps his hands back. Short swing with bat speed. Went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a sacrifice fly. Defensively, made strong accurate throws across the diamond. 2018 left-handed hitting infielder with upside and potential to develop some power in bat.
9/16/19:A South Carolina commit, Weins impressed with control of a three pitch arsenal which included a live 93-94 mph fastball (1800-1950 spin rate), a tight 83 mph slider (2350-2500) and an average to better 85 mph changeup thrown with good arm speed and plenty of arm side life. With a max effort delivery and a head jerk, Weins profiles as a bullpen arm both at the Division I level and in the professional ranks. Overall, his nasty present stuff and athletic 6-foot-3, 200 pound frame should draw Day Two consideration this June.
