Super 60 2017 - Wake Forest recruit. 6-foot-4, 240-pound left-handed hitting first baseman, wide frame, developed shoulders and lower half. Flashed pull-side power at the Super 60. Quiet, simple approach, minimal moving parts, strength in hands, rotational approach, natural lift in swing. Recorded 92 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.40 60 and was clocked at 73 mph across the infield from first base.

2/14/16 - Wake Forest commit. 6-foot-4, 225-pound left-handed hitting first baseman, large build. Profiles as a left-handed power bat at first base. Offensively hits from an open stance, leg lift to short stride, can get foot down sooner. Strong bat, shows pop with hard contact, fast bat. 101 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively hands played around the bag, average footwork, 7.43 runner in the 60. Arm played at 76 mph across the diamond.

9.5.15 - Strong left-handed hitting first-baseman. Ball jumps off his bat. Smoked a one-hop groundball that got one the shortstop in a hurry and resulted in 6-to-3 putout. Strong swing and runs well for his size. Committed to Wake Forest.

4.27.15 - 6-foot-4, 225-pound, left-handed hitting first baseman with large, strong frame. Wake Forest commit, currently ranked No. 4 in the Illinois Class of 2017, No. 39 in the PBR Overall Ranks. DH'd in game. At the plate hits from an upright, slightly open stance with a level swing path. Smooth swing with extension. Peppered the LCF gap in game going 3-3 with 3 singles and 3 RBIs.

1.18.15 - 6-foot-4, 225-pound strong, physically imposing left-handed hitting first baseman ranked No. 3 in Illinois’ 2017 class, committed to Wake Forest. Hits from an open setup, short stride, minimal movement in hands, simple, powerful approach, short path, barrel gets extension, hit line drives from gap-to-gap with power to his pull side, 88 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, threw 71 mph across the diamond from long, loose, high ¾ arm slot, soft hands fielding, good feel around bag, moves well for size. Ran a 7.65 60. Seymour may have as much pure power at the plate than any prospect in the state of Illinois, regardless of graduating class. He’ll provide power in the lineup this spring at Mount Carmel.

9/5/14 - Verbally committed to Wake Forest in September of his sophomore year.

8/2/14 - Seymour impressed as one of the few 2017 prospects in attendance, and his advanced, physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame with room to add will be scary for opposing pitchers once he completely fills out. Seymour's arm will limit him to 1B or LF duties, but he possessed soft hands and good feet around the bag during game play, saving a few infielders from throwing errors with his ability to stretch around the bag. He hits left-handed and barreled several baseballs with little to show for it during game play, recording a single in game three. He hits from an open stance with a leg kick, and impressed during batting practice with his ability to drive the baseball from gap to gap, especially to opposite field. Seymour, AJ Lewis, Jeremy Houston, and Ako Thomas will give the Caravan quite possibly the best infield defense in Illinois during the 2015 high school season.

2/25/14 - Legitimate left-handed power is a golden commodity, which is why the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Seymour should quickly establish himself as one of the most coveted prospects in the Midwest. Physically mature for his age, Seymour possesses easy power to all fields. The ball jumps off his bat with backspin carry as well as any freshman we’ve seen in Illinois in long time. He has a relaxed, tall approach, and consistently showed the ability to drive the ball to left-center – a rarity among young, physical power hitters. Defensively, he will likely end up at first base, but he can also play the outfield. Where ever he plays, Seymour shows the potential to become a middle-of-the-lineup run-producer for years to come.

Summer 2020: Anchoring the middle of the lineup for the Rivets is the big bodied Seymour. At 6-foot-4, 245 pounds and hitting in the cleanup spot, the expectations for Seymour are that of slugger, more so than a guy who wants to drive the oppo gap. He will show 70-grade raw power to his pull side in batting practice, but never opens it up in the game to his pull side. Instead he is largely focused on staying inside the ball and driving it the other way. So far this summer, Seymour is hitting for a solid average at .280, but this same .280 is also his SLG%. When totaled with his 2019 summer in the Cape Cod League (one extra base hit in 34 plate appearance) it equates to one EBH in 122 plate appearances with wood bats. It’s also fair to wonder how his college production of .377/.439/.576 with 9 home runs and 92 RBI as a sophomore for the Demon Deacons at hitter-friendly David F. Couch Ballpark will transfer to professional baseball. He’s an adequate defender at first base and runs better than than you would think when considering his size and frame. With Seymour, it’s all about that bat, and the MLB club that thinks it will be able to tap into his immense raw power will likely select him in the top 10 rounds of the 2021 draft.

3/10/20:Big bodied at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, Seymour is coming off a sophomore year in which he batted .377 and led the country with 92 RBI with just over a 16% K rate. In other words, he’s a middle-of-the-order slugger who also has hit ability. On this look his swing was flat through the zone and he worked the middle of the field instead of his specialty of back-spinning the ball to the opposite field gap. There wasn’t much separation as he kept his hands just inside his back shoulder. Of all the Wake hitters, he took the best at-bats (2-for-4) against Detmers wicked arsenal. Defensively, he is limited to first base with below average range both with fielding ground balls and stretching for off-line throws. However, he does move well underway with a 4.37 home to first run time on an infield single to third base. But for Seymour, it’s not about his run/throw/defend tools. His value is all in his left-handed bat. And, with another good year at the plate, he should be rewarded with a Day Two selection this June. (Seifert)

7/20/18:6-foot-4, 250 pounds. Tall and thick. Big guy. Lefty has average bat speed, seems to really guide his hands through the zone. Another aggressive St. Cloud hitter, looking to put the ball in play. Moves down the line pretty well for a big man. Had a great day at the plate on my look; 4-for-5 with a double. He was average at first base, didn’t have to make any difficult plays. More of a hitter. Aggressive young bat who has seen some success this summer. (Jake Stone)
