RHP Austin Borries (Teutopolis) is a sturdy and durable 6-foot-1, 206-pound arm to follow. Borries features a simple and controlled delivery down the mound, filling the strike zone with all three of his offerings. His fastball sat 83-85 mph (T86) with 12.6” of arm-side run on average, as well as an average of 14” of induced vertical break - landing in the zone 67% of the time. His curveball had 12/6 shape to it at 72-73 mph, being thrown for strikes 71% of the time. Borries would then turn to a 75-76 mph changeup that had heavy sink to the arm-side (avg. 17.7” HM) and showed out-pitch capabilities. The uncommitted junior is another arm to follow out of the southern part of the state.

Strong, sturdy 6-foot-3, 200-pound broad-shouldered frame. Took the mound for the Wooden Shoes and helped pitch them to a win over No. 5 Edwardsville. Allowed an unearned run on one hit in his five innings of work, walking three with seven strikeouts. Tall/fall type mover, high leg kick, subtle stack onto his backside and pitches downhill. Open finish, drifts towards the first base side through release. Fastball played with some angle and tilt to it, sat in the low-to-mid-80s, touching 86 mph early. Big bend and depth on an upper-60s breaking ball, high arch, landed it for strikes consistently. A strike thrower with starter’s physicality and size that’s one to follow in the state’s 2026 class.

After showing well at the GBA Scout Day earlier this month, RHP Austin Borries (Teutopolis, 2026) put together arguably an even better showing at Saturday’s event. A big-bodied arm at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, Borries has a quick, repeatable delivery with a fast arm to pair. He has feel for his entire three-pitch mix, starting with a fastball that played at 83-85 mph, topping at 85.9 mph. He maintained the same slot and arm speed on his upper-60s curveball, producing an average of -15.3 inches of horizontal movement, which showed swing-and-miss potential at the bottom of the zone. His change-up sat in the mid-70s with an average of 18 inches of fade. Borries is a follow arm in the state’s current sophomore class.

RHP Austin Borries (Teutopolis, IL, 2026) popped as a follow sophomore on the hill after a quality showing at this event. Toeing the rubber at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, Borries’ arm plays with length on the backside and finishes from a high ¾ slot. His fastball played on the corners and for strikes at 83-84 mph, and he consistently landed a 66-69 mph curveball with depth for strikes.
