In their 13-9 win over Homewood-Flossmoor, Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, four runs scored, and two walks. He also threw one inning on the mound with two strikeouts in the contest. Martinez added three hits with a double and an RBI in their 9-2 win over Joliet West. He earned the win on the mound, too, throwing five innings with four strikeouts and two hits allowed.

Started on the mound for the Porters and threw it well over his five innings of work, not allowing a run on two hits and four strikeouts. Listed at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, Martinez has some strength throughout his frame and a strong lower-half. He worked a sinking fastball in the 80-83 mph range to pair off an 11/5 breaking ball at 67-70 mph. Hitting out of the three-hole, Martinez helped his own cause at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. His swing is fluid with a controlled load, coiling into balance before firing through with strong hands, showing a knack for the barrel consistently. Intriguing two-way prospect in the ‘23 class.
