Kahanu Martinez possesses some of the strongest tools out of the 2026 Hawaii class and he put those tools on display at 2024 Future Games.
LHH shortstop/C showed off his plus bat speed with loose, easy swing in BP. Ball really jumps off his bat and opened DI coach's eyes with plus carry and loft to pull hitting a few line-drive HR's over RF fence. In gameplay, Martinez put together a strong event with quality AB's and drove the ball using the entire field.
Defensively Martinez is an easy-to-project plus SS with a potential plus-plus arm but his value goes through the roof at catcher. Looks like he's caught his entire life with quiet set-up, can really frame and does it so easy for someone with so little experience behind plate in games. You can't make someone want to catch and Martinez wanted to catch at Future Games.
DI recruiting value went through the roof after Future Games and he'll have plenty of options on where to commit and MLB scouts already have Martinez on their radar as he's got all the ingredients and upside for a 2026 MLB draft.
