The smooth-swinging lefty bat continued to reach base for the Yellow Jackets in its sweep of the Hokies. Coming into the series Gonzalez had reached in every game this season and he continued that streak with two hits in each game. With a balanced approach Gonzalez hits into a firm front side and his line drive stroke produces hard contact to all fields. His top EV on the weekend was 107 mph on a double to right field during Sunday's first game. He also has an exceptional eye and plate discipline with 14 BB vs 7 BB this season and 60 vs 54 for his career at Tech. With an already strong draft resume that is boosted by a runner-up finish for the 2021 Cape Cod League batting title, Gonzalez is quickly putting together mid-Day Two interest for this summer's draft.
Cape Cod- A late surge by outfielder Tres Gonzalez (Georgia Tech) propelled him to a runner-up finish for the 2021 Cape batting title. The left handed hitter finished at .331, boosting his average 45 points in the last seven games. There's not a whole lot of power for the 6-foot, 180-pound corner outfield with just six XBH (all doubles) in 121 at-bats, but he has a compact, line drive stroke with some whip to its finish, very good bat-to-ball skills and strong plate discipline with more walks (17) than strikeouts (15).
