2/24/19: Strong, large-framed catcher with raw power as his top tool. Showed a good positive move to the ball. Rotated his barrel to the ball with good extension. Got off balance at times with his lower half, but kept his hands back and separated well using his hips to create good torque. Very good wrist/forearm strength; hit pitches hard even when he was fooled as evidenced by one-arming a changeup for a double off the right-center field wall during Sunday's series finale. Defensively, he sits high with stiff hips and limited ankle flexion, but did get out of the stance fairly easily to block balls in the dirt. Showed dependable hands, consistently catching the ball in the pocket, and average arm strength. This is his first full season behind the plate at Georgia Tech after playing mostly first base and DH while backing up Joey Bart the past two seasons. He started just seven games last season and 15 in 2017 behind the dish. McCann will likely move up a few rounds in our next ranking scheduled to be released in early April. (Seifert)
