3/28/18 - 6’7/205, Red-shirt Junior- Tall, athletic and long limbed. Lewis was the game three starting pitcher for the Wildcats. Good arm action with a full path up to a slot while working from the 1st base side of the rubber. Repeated his delivery while occasionally creating some deception with hesitation at various points during his windup. Will also quick pitch as another method to disrupt the hitter’s timing. Showed an 89-92 mph fastball with a spin rate around 2300 rpm. It had average life and was mainly thrown to his armside. Pitched off his change-up, which had good arm speed and ranged from 75-79 mph with a spin rate of 1750-1875 rpm. The change-up was an average to above average pitch at times, but it did not play as an out pitch. Also mixed in a useable slider at 80-82 mph. His athleticism, delivery, arm action and three pitch mix all lend towards a future professional role as a starting pitcher. It’s not big stuff now, but Lewis is the uncommon fourth year college player who still has projection remaining. Look for him to be drafted in the middle of Day 2 of the draft this June.
