6-foot-2, 174-pound right-handed hitting outfielder, long, lean frame, muscular build, highly athletic, projectable, ran a 6.69 laser-timed 60, long strider. Offensively, open setup, smooth rhythm in hands has he loads back into a near arm bar, short leg lift stride, good balance. Quick hands create whippy barrel speed as the barrel works mostly level through the zone creating line drive contact, at-times barrel can work uphill as he looks to elevate and drive, 84 exit velocity off a tee, 93.06 max exit velocity during BP. Defensively, long, clean arm action to an over-the-top slot, throws are true and around the bag, 79 from the outfield. Fundamentally sound defender, plays through the ball athletically, fields the ball out front with a soft glove hand, quick feet, clean on transfers.
Justen Newsom is a young and athletic looking 2022 prospect from Harrison High school. He checked in at an impressive looking 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Newsom posted an impressive 7.14-60 time, but the time does not tell the entire story. He is a long strider who has not gained man strength so his form would break down at times and as he gets stronger and more durable, look for Newsom to post some impressive times. At the plate he is upright, narrow and slightly open and appears to see the ball very well. He is under control and has impressive feel for the bat-head for a young hitter. His quiet approach and lack of head movement really stand out because the hands are live and get fast just before contact.. Look for this one to come big over the coming years with proper strength gains and at bats. His easy actions and frame make him uber-projectable.
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder, projectable frame, long, lanky with emerging strength throughout, moves athletically with long strides. Has really made strides from the summer into the fall, now a consistent top of the order bat for the Georgia Scorpions. Takes a more gap-to-gap approach with pull-side pop, can turn on pitches with ease, uses his length to his advantage. With continued reps and added strength, will be able to consistently drive the ball with force.
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder, long projectable build, will add significant strength as he physically matures. Balanced setup, hands start below shoulders and load back, short leg kick timing trigger, good balance. Look to pull the ball with force, uses his long levers well.
